Ms. Sutherland has worked as Organist and Choirmaster at many churches in NJ, PA, DE, NY, and CT over the past three plus decades. Before returning to her home state of New Jersey, she worked at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wilton, CT, Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown, CT, the Church of St. James the Less in Scarsdale, NY, and Christ Church Greenwich, CT, leading large choral programs of all levels. As an organist, Ms. Sutherland has played recitals in many states, as well as abroad. Fiona is also the Music Director for two New Jersey choral societies, The Shrewsbury Chorale in Monmouth County and the Lakeside Choraliers in Park Ridge. She also has a select studio of piano, voice, and conducting students.  In the summers of 2021, 2023, and 2025 she had the honor of being selected as one of the Guest Conductors for the renowned Ocean Grove Choral Festival.  Fiona is proud to have the opportunity to perform for President Obama in 2012. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master of Music degrees at Westminster Choir College, studying Choral Conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt, Andrew Megill, and James Jordan, organ with Eugene Roan and voice with Lois Laverty and Dan Pratt. Ms. Sutherland has master classed with many sacred musicians, conductors, and singers, including Robert Shaw, Sir David Willcocks, John Rutter, Gerre Hancock, Pierre Pincemalle, Dale Warland, and Julianne Baird. She had the opportunity to perform as a singer in the Festival dei Duo Monde in Spoleto, Italy, performing works of Wagner and Haydn. During this time she was able to recital in numerous venues as a concert organist.  As a proponent of supporting the creation of new choral music, Fiona has collaborative relationships with many current choral composers.
