Marriage
In the church’s belief and practice, Marriage is more than a legal contract. Marriage is a sacrament in the Episcopal Church, a sign of God’s grace in the lifelong mutual commitment of a couple. The sacrament of marriage is not for the couple alone, but is entered into in community – a community which pledges to support the couple in their vows, and prays that the love and commitment of the couple will inspire and strengthen their community. For this reason, we require that all couples married at Trinity must be members of a community of faith, or actively seeking a congregation or faith community during their preparation for marriage.
O gracious and everliving God, you have created humankind in your image: Look mercifully upon this couple who come to you seeking your blessing, and assist them with your grace, that with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honor and keep the promises and vows they make; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Funerals
A funeral service in the Episcopal Church allows us to commend our loved ones to God’s care, in confidence of eternal life; a time to both celebrate the life of the departed and to grieve our losses in the assurance of God’s love and grace.
Please contact Kate Stefanko at the church office as soon as possible after a death in the family to make arrangements for the funeral. Pre-arrangements can be made with one of our clergy at any time.

Father of all, we pray to you for those we love, but see no longer: Grant them your peace; let light perpetual shine upon them; and, in your loving wisdom and almighty power, work in them the good purpose of your perfect will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Baptisms
The sacrament of baptism is the foundation for all aspects of Christian life. In baptism, we turn from the powers of sin and commit ourselves wholly to follow Christ. With water and the work of God’s Holy Spirit, we are brought into the risen life of Christ, and welcomed into Christ’s Body, the Church. At each baptism, the whole congregation commits ourselves to support the newly baptized, and renews our own baptismal covenant, the vows which guide our day-to-day faithful living.
Because baptism is a whole life commitment, we expect that all candidates for baptism will be regularly attending worship before beginning the conversation about preparing for baptism. All candidates (or, in the case of infants and small children, their parents) are expected to meet with the clergy for a conversation about their choice to be baptized, and appropriate preparation for the sacrament. Baptisms are scheduled on five or six Sundays during the year, and at the Easter Vigil. If you are interested in baptism for yourself or your child, please contact Kate Stefanko.
Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon these your servants the forgiveness of sin, and have raised them to the new life of grace. Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen
