Special Musical Events

All of our special musical events are made possible by the Friends of Trinity Music. These events enrich the life of our parish and serve as a special means of outreach to the Moorestown, NJ area.

Special Liturgies and Music, 2022

Choral Evensong – May 22nd at 4 p.m.

The Trinity Choir and the St. Cecilia Ensemble will present a service of Choral Evensong this Sunday afternoon, May 22, at 4:00 p.m. The St. Cecilia Ensemble is a new choir for older girls, most of whom sang in the Canterbury Choir.

At Evensong an expanded choir sings special music that you will not hear on Sunday mornings. Our service will open with Tschesnokoff’s Russian Orthodox anthem Salvation is Created, a haunting piece for unaccompanied choir based on a Ukranian chant melody. The choir will sing two more anthems as well as Vernon’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis D. Guest organist Andrew Senn will accompany the service and play organ music before and after the service.

One of the treasures of the Anglican tradition, Evensong is a service of Evening Prayer in which music plays the leading role. A tapestry of sung responses, choir anthems, Anglican chant, congregational hymns, and organ music is woven around scripture readings and prayers, following a format that is hundreds of years old. Evensong invites us to spend an hour in the contemplation of beauty and God’s word at a quiet and peaceful time of the week.
