Growing in Love of God and Neighbor

Interested in Joining the Diversity Committee?

In early 2005, a small group of Trinity parishioners gathered together to focus on exposing and addressing racial inequalities that continue to be maintained within institutions in our country. Out of this meeting the God’s Diversity Committee was given birth. Our mission simply states: “With God’s help, to actively celebrate and advance the principles of acceptance and inclusion as a critical way of inspiring actions that reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ.” Specifically, our main goal is defined by the Baptismal Covenant: “To strive for justice and peace among parishioners and all people by being respectful of the dignity of every human being.” Additionally, we seek to increase awareness, to appreciate society’s many diverse peoples, as well as to provide programs, spiritual services and other activities that demonstrate the beauty of various cultures.

We stive to achieve these goals by providing pertinent topics for discussion at coffee hour (prior to covid), biographical summaries each week in the Trinity Newsletter consistent with the federal calendar, and recognition of diverse groups within America. Also, we advocate incorporating diversity in our music, guest speakers, and programs. We continue to promote inclusion while exemplifying a set of core values including excellence, accountability, transparency and respect in all that we do and speak.

Some of our past and current activities include:

  1. Observations of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday
  2. Celebration of Black History Month
  3. Recognition of Juneteenth
  4. Published special prayers in the Parish Notes
  5. Discussion at Coffee Hour on LGBTQ rights, Civil rights and other issues
  6. Hosted “Breaking Bread Together with the Christian, Jewish, Muslim Alliance of Cherry Hill

In conclusion, to accomplish our current and future goals for our church, the God’s Diversity Committee needs your help. If you are interested in joining our committee, please contact Bob Litsinger and/or join u on the third Thursday beginning again in September at 7 pm on Zoom.
