Part Time Facilities Associate / Handyperson

The Facilities Associate will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repair for the facilities and grounds at Trinity Episcopal Church, Moorestown, NJ, and collaborate with church staff and leaders to manage the overall upkeep of the property.
This is a part-time position, with an expectation that the employee will work an average of 18 hours over 3-4 days per week. The regular work schedule will be negotiated between the employee and the church and require some flexibility.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in the management of facility and grounds: cleaning, maintenance, and repair.
- Working knowledge and experience in the operations of boilers, air-conditioning, chillers and pumps.
- General maintenance skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Ability to organize work tasks & projects, and maintain records and documentation
- Ability to work well with people, helping to maintain a friendly and cooperative atmosphere among staff, volunteers, and persons using the church’s buildings and grounds.
- Ability to use computers for email communication and document creation in Word.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including climbing steps and ladders, must be flexible enough to bend, and must be able to pull and push heavy objects (i.e. be physically able to lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 lbs.)
Responsibilities:
- Minor plumbing, electrical and other mechanical repairs, and painting, as needed.
- Monitor heating and cooling of the various building spaces and ensure that correct settings are maintained, or address problems as needed.
- Open and prep the building for scheduled events during agreed working hours: set-up and store chairs and tables before and after church functions and meetings and clean up after functions and meetings.
- Meet Fire Inspector for inspections; maintain record of inspections, issues, and resolutions.
- Be on call during agreed-upon hours to address maintenance problems likely to affect the use of the buildings (floods, HVAC malfunction, bathroom malfunction, etc.).
- Alert Property Committee chair to any equipment or maintenance problems you can’t resolve yourself.
- Oversee landscape maintenance company tending to mowing, trimming, etc. and address any issues directly with crew. Alert the Property Committee Chair to unresolved problems.
- Clear leaves and snow from walkways as needed.
- Arrange for annual gutter cleaning.
- Make sure all tools, lawnmowers etc. are properly maintained and stored
- Respond to office manager’s requests for property repairs, and manage projects requested by Rector, Office Manager or Property Committee.
Compensation:
$25-30 per hour, depending on experience.
