Growing in Love of God and Neighbor

Children and Youth Monthly Newsletter

Welcome to the new school year, Trinity Families! We are very excited for the new school year at Trinity, and we can’t wait to see your children’s happy faces returning to our classrooms!

Our first day of Sunday School will be September 8th and we have a fun-filled morning planned for parents, children, and youth. Please don’t forget your backpacks and to register your students online.

Here is an itinerary of our morning:

9 AM Youth (6th-12th Grade) Parent & Student Meet and Greet with Teachers in Chapel

All students from 6th-12th Grade, and their parents, will meet in the Chapel to review the upcoming year and meet their teachers.

9 – 10 AM 4th & 5th Grade Class

4th and 5th Graders will meet in their downstairs classroom with teacher Kristina Van Name.

9:45 AM – 11:15 Pre-K through 3rd Grade classes; Nursery open

  • Nursery care will be in the Yellow Room of the Preschool Wing with Lauren Johnson.
  • Pre-K will meet in the Green Room of the Preschool Wing with Ingrid Wolfe.
  • K and 1st Grade will meet in the classroom behind the Parish Hall stage with Holly Pearson.
  • 2nd and 3rd Grade will meet in the upstairs classroom behind the Parish Hall stage with Jennifer Shappell.

10 – 11:15 AM Worship Service and Blessing of the Backpacks

After communion, all children and youth attending the 10 AM worship service are encouraged to join the children from the Pre-K – 3rd Grade Classes in approaching the front of the church with their backpacks to have them blessed for the beginning of the school year. Children will be dismissed to their parents following the Blessing for the final hymn and recessional.

11:15 AM Youth Volunteer Fair

Please join us for a fun Youth Volunteer Fair where our children and youth from 4th – 12th grades can learn more about fun volunteer opportunities at Trinity! From liturgical roles such as acolytes, lectors, and ushers, to assisting in younger classrooms or joining our youth choir, we have fun volunteer opportunities to interest every young person at Trinity! Any current volunteers should also attend.

We will have teacher volunteers available to watch younger siblings if parents would like to learn alongside their kids.

Any families interested in participating should gather by the piano in the Parish Hall 10 minutes after worship service ends. We will start by visiting the Children’s Choir and Outreach tables in the Parish Hall. Children who are in 3rd Grade and under will then join Holly Pearson in her classroom behind the stage for an activity. Youth who are in 4th – 12th Grade will continue the Youth Volunteer Fair in the Church.

Families are encouraged to stay and join us for pizza at the conclusion of the Fair.

Please sign up here, so we know about how many families to expect.
